I'm sorry I don't have a number to post, as they spoofed it, but this scam was interesting. I didn't take it very far because it was kind of creepy. Cold called me while I was making dinner.
Man with an Indian accent claiming to be from the "Email Verification Department". The guy knew my name and asked if a certain Gmail account address was mine. The address is an old throwaway I don't even use anymore. I said no. He said are you suuree you never signed into or used this account? Nope. Are you sure? NOPE. He said thanks and hung up. I'm assuming they want you to "Verify" your account by providing your password.
This was much more convincing than regular cold calls since they had my name and one of my email addresses. I know there are websites where all that info is available for free and scammers are using it too. I got a legit call from my banks fraud department the other day and was skeptical as hell the whole time lol.
Just wanted to make people aware....especially older folks. More so than normal. Although their email is full of virus infested forwards lol.
